What is the EGX and why should I care?
The endothelial glycocalyx (EGX) is a thin, gel-like layer that lines the inside of blood vessels. Made up of glycoproteins and glycolipids, it plays several important roles in vascular health:
Acting as a selective, protective barrier for blood vessel walls*
Helping regulate how vessels dilate and constrict to support healthy circulation*
Because the EGX is involved in protecting and regulating the vascular system, maintaining its health is important for overall cardiovascular wellness. Factors such as elevated blood sugar, cholesterol, and oxidative stress may affect the EGX over time. Supportive lifestyle choices, like eating a balanced diet rich in antioxidants, exercising regularly, and avoiding smoking, are well known to protect the vascular system in part due to their beneficial effects on the endothelial glycocalyx.
Arterosil HP® is the gold standard to support the structure and normal function of the EGX.*
